My name is Tanya...

I’m a long-time Grass Valley resident and 30-year hair-stylist. My love for hair began when I had barely lived a decade and my grandmother asked me to do her roller-sets while we looked out the window at the farm. Soon I was cutting all my friends’ hair. I was licensed in 1995 and have spent an exciting career specializing in precision cuts, color and up-styling.

Having always had a love and respect for nature, I was inspired to begin a 12 year deep-dive into AVEDA hair color, known for their natural approach. My color training has continued as I’ve explored a variety of color lines over the years and had the opportunity to study with many educators.

I moved to the Sierra Foothills to give my kids that nature-filled childhood I remembered from my days on the farm. Being a mother of grown children, I began craving a new adventure so last year I moved to Colorado, only to discover my heart was tethered to my grandkids and the community I love. Now that I’ve returned, I have a newfound appreciation for the magic of this small but growing town that literally sits on gold.

After a bit of soul-searching, I began seeking a salon that could give my clients the high-end experience I had grown to appreciate while working in top salons from St. Louis to San Francisco.

I found my new home at Ember Salon.

While many stylist have studied precision cutting, I pride myself in my artistic flare that I add to my clean sections and precision lines.

With a passion for personal growth and interpersonal relationships, I connect with each guest, to really see who they are and use my years of experience as a stylist to create a look that is just for them. I have a deep sense of gratitude and compassion and it comes out in the way I listen and work with you to create a look that will help others see you as well.

Connecting with others is what fills my cup.

I am passionate about crafting and spending time in nature, so feel free to swap secret nature spots or ideas for your latest crafting project. If I’m not driving to Santa Cruz or spending time with my grandkids, you can find me humming Bonnie Raitt while seeking refuge in my garden.

My favorite saying is:

“Make it a Great Day… Because You Can!”
